Silver Chalice

A silver chalice on a rock pedestal.

The body and stem of this chalice started out as flat sheets of silver which I then hammered into shape. The base was cast from molten silver in an open pour and the three pieces were soldered together to form the drinking vessel. Finally, the whole thing was filed where necessary and polished until it shone brightly.

While I’m calling this drinking vessel a prop, I didn’t originally create it as such—and it is quite functional. Shortly after I made it, it received plenty of use while I was camping.
