Medieval Pouch

The pouch lying on a rock wall.

Long before pockets were the norm, people still had a need to keep small items at hand. Enter the pouch.

This pouch has one main compartment with two draw-string pouches on the front. A large flap covers the tops of all compartments. I sewed it together by hand from two types of leather, hand carved the button from black walnut, and formed the buckle out of brass and soldered it together.

The inspiration for this medieval pouch came from an illustrated book I was reading about medieval times. I liked the concept enough to design and make this pouch without having a use for it. I'm sure I'll find something to do with it someday.
